Section 3 of the Act provides an inclusive definition that captures the full range of abusive behaviors.

The Act's most significant feature is that it provides a civil remedy — the aggrieved woman can seek protection, residence, and monetary relief without necessarily initiating criminal proceedings. Filing a Complaint in Kolkata — Procedure

The Protection Officer is duty-bound to assist you in filing the complaint and preparing the Domestic Incident Report.
